Can aquarium sealant be used on a filter?
I have a crack in my Aquaclear 300/70 filter and I was wondering if I could use The Aquarium sealent to seal off the crack if I use a good amount of it on both sides of the crack. What do you guys think or do you have any other ideas??? Also, where is the cheapest place to buy the sealant? Thanks!
Yes you can use aquarium sealant (silicone). But you would have to wait about 48 hours for it to dry. You could also use under water epoxy , they sell epoxy for aquarium use that is safe to use before its even dry. You could make the repair with the epoxy and put the filter right back in service. http://www.marinedepot.com/Two_Little_Fishies_AquaStik_Stone_Grey_2_oz._Reef_Glue_Epoxy_Putty_for_Saltwater_Aquariums-Two_Little_Fishies-TL1613-FIMTEP-TL1615-vi.html
