How do i best rtepair a crack in the base of a double based Marine Aquarium?
Have an aquarium 7ft x 2ft x 2ft 10mm glass but double base. Has a centre hole for spray bar and 2 corner weirs each with a return pipe and durso pipe. Had problems sealing plumbing. Thought I had “cracked” this until I filled with water yesterday and a crack appeared in base (bottom of the two panes) from front to back. No water coming out and manufacturer (who has been very good is suggesting adding a new pane of glass on top of the existing two and then sealing and filling with silicone. Sounds reasonable to me. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
That sounds like the best solution . you would need a fairly beefy peice of glass and caulking that will not leak chlorine as it cures.
